Trash or other refuse that is to be picked up on a regular basis may be placed in an approved container on any day that a pickup is to be made. At all other times trash containers must not be visible from the street or surrounding property.

Approved trash containers include:

  • Plastic refuse bins with lids of not more than five (5) feet in height or three (3) feet in width.
  • Earth tone colors are required

No lumber, metals, bulk materials, garbage, refuse or trash shall be kept, stored or allowed to accumulate on any Lot; no Lot shall be used or maintained as a dumping ground for any material; trash, garbage or other waste shall not be kept on any Lot except in sanitary containers.

Pickup Schedule

Regular trash collection days for Highgrove: Tuesday and Friday

Highgrove Association currently contracts for trash collection from Waste Management.  Regular collection may be delayed by one day during weeks when a holiday occurs.  If you are missed, please call Waste Management directly at 800-553-7771.

Bulk trash collection is done on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month.  Residents must call Waste Management directly at 800-553-7771 at least two days prior for bulk pickup.  Extra fees for bulk pickup may apply; ask for details when you call.

Curbside Recycling

The Charles County Government operates a curbside recycling program which picks up every other week.  Charles County's curbside collection program currently accepts the following items at no charge:

  • Aluminum & Tin Cans
    After items have been emptied and rinsed (labels may stay on)
  • Glass Bottles & Jars
    After items have been emptied/rinsed, and caps/lids have been discarded (labels may stay on)
  • Paper
    After items have been placed into brown paper bags, they accept Newspapers, Magazines, Phone books, Catalogs, writing and computer paper
  • Plastic Bottles & Jugs
    Narrow neck plastic bottles and jugs with #1 and #2 stamped on bottom

Yard Waste is accepted seasonally and may include Grass, Leaves, Bushes, and Branches (no longer than 4 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter).  Yard waste should be placed in paper bags (up to 50 pounds each) which can be purchased from local hardware stores.  Brush should be bundled with twine.  Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
